Mickoski: Location of new clinical center expected to be determined by summer season

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski expects that by the end of the summer season, the location selection phase for the new clinical center will be concluded, thus paving the way for the launch of preparations for this major investment in the healthcare sector.

After the inauguration of the reconstructed traumatology ward at the University Clinic for Surgical Diseases “St. Naum of Ohrid” in Skopje, Mickoski told journalists that negotiations with the landowner are underway, while another alternative in the surrounding area is also being evaluated.

“Yes, we are in dialogue. We are holding talks with the landowner and are also considering a second option near that parcel. We never leave things to just one variant. I expect that within this space we will manage to finalize the process and then draw up a clear plan to finally start that healthcare investment,” Mickoski stated.

Asked about a concrete timeline, the head of government stressed that this process should be completed during the summer period. “Let summer be the final moment,” he said.

The area the Government is considering for the construction of the new clinical complex is located next to the “Boris Trajkovski” sports center and swimming pool in Karposh, in a position adjacent to the “8 Shtatori” General Hospital, the TEP Center, and the “Bukuresht” polyclinic.

According to reports so far, the land is privately owned and the parties are in talks to secure it. The project envisions the new clinical center as part of an integrated healthcare complex, which would be connected to the “8 Shtatori” General Hospital via an underground corridor.

Earlier, Prime Minister Mickoski had emphasized that this location offers easy circulation and favorable infrastructure conditions. He also added that if procedures go smoothly, the first steps for implementing the project could be taken in 2027.
