Mexhiti: The Ministries of Justice, Culture and Inter-Community Relations carry key weight in improving the position of Albanians

Izet Mexhiti, co-chair of VLEN, has stated that taking charge of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Inter-Community Relations and the Ministry of Culture marks an important development for advancing the position of Albanians in North Macedonia, as well as for strengthening state institutions.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Ohrid Agreement, he said that the country is entering a new phase of governance, built on the principles of justice, equality and responsibility.

“Justice is the foundation of the rule of law and the strongest guarantee of equality among citizens. Taking over this sector means taking responsibility for moving forward with deep reforms in the justice system, restoring citizens’ trust in the judiciary and institutions, and guaranteeing the full implementation of the constitutional and language rights stemming from the Ohrid Agreement,” Mexhiti stressed.

According to him, the Ministry of Inter-Community Relations and the Ministry of Culture will play an important role in increasing social cohesion, promoting the multiethnic character of the state and preserving the cultural identity of Albanians. He added that, together with the sectors of European Affairs, Economy and Environment, these ministries will help accelerate the country’s European integration.

“This reconfiguration also represents a full consolidation of VLEN’s representation in the Government. A consolidated VLEN in Government means more unity in decision-making, greater efficiency in defending the interests of Albanians and more responsibility in fulfilling our commitments to citizens,” Mexhiti concluded.
