Massive Fire in Lugaxhi, Elbasan, Spreads Through Forest and Threatens Residential Area

Around midday today, a large fire broke out in the forest near the village of Lugaxhi, part of the Labinot Mal Administrative Unit in Elbasan Municipality.

Local residents alerted the Elbasan Municipality fire service at around 13:00. Preliminary information indicates that the flames have engulfed a significant area of forest and are advancing toward the residential area, raising concerns.

Immediately after the alarm was raised, firefighters, civil emergency units and members of the community joined the operation. The response is aimed at stopping the fire from spreading and protecting homes.

Firefighting teams are working on the ground to contain the hotspots and prevent the flames from advancing. The operation is being hampered by the terrain and the size of the affected area, while protecting the residential area remains the top priority.

In recent days, the Elbasan fire service has been heavily engaged in tackling fires reported across the municipality.

Due to the situation in several areas, firefighting units have organized their services across two areas of Elbasan to ensure the fastest possible response to each outbreak.

In Lugaxhi, both residents and emergency services responded without delay. The operation is continuing in an effort to limit the further spread of the flames.

No injuries have been reported so far. Because the fire is close to the residential area, the situation is being continuously monitored.

Authorities have urged residents to remain calm, stay away from the fire and follow instructions issued by emergency services.
