Massive Fire in Belsh, Flames Between Seferan and Merhojë Threaten Homes and Olive Groves

This afternoon, a large-scale fire engulfed part of Belsh Municipality, alarming residents and local authorities.

Preliminary reports indicate that the flames broke out at around 16:00 in the border area between the villages of Seferan and Merhojë. High temperatures and strong winds have fueled the fire’s rapid spread in several directions, engulfing considerable areas of olive groves, shrubs, vegetation and agricultural land.

Several plots planted with olive trees have been damaged, while the advancing flames are seriously threatening homes near the fire. Residents are on alert and are closely monitoring the situation with concern.

Firefighters from Belsh Municipality, Civil Emergency units, municipal employees and other services were immediately deployed to the scene. Crews are working without interruption to contain the fire and prevent it from approaching residential areas.

Firefighting efforts are being hampered by the high temperatures and wind, which is constantly changing the direction of the flames.

No injuries have been reported so far. Authorities are focusing their efforts on protecting residents’ lives and property, as well as bringing the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. Once the flames have been fully extinguished, investigative teams and relevant experts are expected to conduct inspections at the scene to determine the cause.
