Massive Fire Engulfs Krujë and Burns Large Areas, Rama: Tragedy Averted, Only One Warehouse Destroyed

Prime Minister Edi Rama has spoken about the massive fire that engulfed Krujë Mountain, expressing his appreciation for the efforts of firefighters, military personnel and police officers.

According to Rama, the operation to bring the flames under control ended with no residents injured and only one warehouse destroyed. The response was hampered by strong winds, while the use of aerial firefighting equipment was impossible during the night.

The head of government said the professionalism and heroism of the personnel on the ground prevented an outcome that could have been tragic, as is unfortunately happening in other European countries during this scorching summer.

In a social media post, Rama described the efforts to tackle the fire on Krujë Mountain as an extraordinary battle. He stressed that during the extremely difficult hours last night, Krujë residents saw that they were not alone, which, according to him, was also demonstrated by one of several messages he received during the night.

“Respect and gratitude for our heroes on the fire lines,” Rama wrote, referring to their efforts during this challenging August.
