Majlinda Bregu apologizes for the political legacy: We taught young people that violence can be a solution

In a Facebook post following the violent protest in Tirana, Majlinda Bregu expressed her regret over the consequences and the political legacy that, she says, has been passed on to younger generations.

The former minister and former Democratic Party MP criticized the continuation of the same scenes and clashes in Albania even after so many years.

According to her, the political system continues to rely on conflict to preserve and reproduce itself.

Bregu says that those who know politics from the inside should feel even worse about the situation that has been created. She describes the repeated confrontation with the same scenes and consequences as a profound feeling of helplessness.

According to her, young people are being left with a blocked path between the despair that only violence can resolve situations and a political system fed by confrontation.

“I apologize for the trauma we left you as our legacy, for a rotten political system and for the dangerous model we passed on to you, according to which mutual violence is a solution,” Majlinda Bregu writes.
