LSM Urges Employers to Protect Workers from High Temperatures and Implement IShP Recommendations

With high temperatures forecast for today and the coming days, the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia has called on all employers to implement the measures set out in the Action Plan for Preventing the Impact of Heatwaves on Public Health.

In its public statement, LSM called for compliance with occupational safety and health measures. The union urged employers to reduce or suspend outdoor work during the hottest parts of the day and to provide workers with all the necessary equipment and measures to protect their health and lives under these conditions.

LSM also stressed that, in order to cope with the forecast temperatures, precautionary and protective measures should be implemented during the heatwave, for which the Institute of Public Health has already issued recommendations.

Due to the high temperatures expected to last until August 7, the Institute of Public Health (IShP) has urged citizens to take protective measures against the heatwave.

Exposure to heat and direct sunlight poses the greatest risk between 11:00 and 17:00.
