LSDM accuses government of planning a new 1.3 billion euro loan and preparing for early elections

The government led by Hristijan Mickoski aims to take on a new debt of 1.3 billion euros, claims LSDM, which links this borrowing to preparations for early parliamentary elections.

According to the opposition party, over the past two and a half years the country has been burdened with about 2.5 billion euros in debt. LSDM estimates that if the announced loan is also realized, the total obligation will increase to about 12 billion euros. The party emphasizes that all governments over the last 35 years, taken together, have brought the country’s debt to about 8 billion euros.

The opposition asserts that the new money will be used for projects that the executive will then present as its own achievements, as well as to secure funds for possible elections. LSDM has also cast doubts about possible criminal tenders, but has not published concrete contracts or evidence in support of these accusations.

According to LSDM, discussions have already begun within government circles about organizing early elections in the spring. The party also claims that there is an agreement with BDI on when they will be held.

Questioning the statements about economic achievements, LSDM criticized the government’s economic policies and said that citizens are not experiencing the claimed results in their daily lives.

In its reaction, the opposition also accuses Mickoski of preparing a political campaign based on social divisions, anti-EU rhetoric, and the influence of politicians from the region and Hungary. In this part, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, are mentioned.

In conclusion, LSDM declared that, in its view, citizens have already understood the politics of the current government. The party also conveyed the message that “spring is coming,” a time when, as it says, “everything changes.”
