Lieutenant Faruk Muqolli refuses to comment on audio recordings of conversation with Arlinda Zekaj

Faruk Muqolli, a police lieutenant in the Peja region, declined to comment on audio recordings released from a meeting in his office with the late Arlinda Zekaj. During the conversation, she expressed concern for her safety and her son’s.

In the recordings, Zekaj can be heard telling the police officer that she was worried about her son’s condition and the lack of an institutional response.

She told Muqolli that her son’s mental health had been damaged and that, according to her, no action had been taken.

During the conversation, Zekaj said she feared she could be killed and warned that officials would be held responsible.

Arta Avidu, a journalist with Dukagjini, contacted Muqolli by phone to ask him to comment on the contents of the audio recordings.

He did not answer her questions, telling the journalist that he was busy working and that she was disturbing him.

Muqolli added that the information office should be contacted about the matter, saying he was not authorized to comment.
