Kusari-Lila: Today’s verdict is a severe blow to Kosovo

Minister Mimoza Kusari-Lila has reacted to the decision of the Specialist Court, describing the day as a difficult one for Kosovo.

According to her, today’s verdict against former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi constitutes a severe sentence for Kosovo, their families and the entire people of Kosovo.

Kusari-Lila stressed that the KLA represented the people of Kosovo themselves, the voice of resistance, the desire for freedom and the determination to put an end to violence and repression. She said that the KLA embodied the efforts of a people who refused to live without freedom and dignity.

The minister underscored that the history of Kosovo’s war cannot be defined by a single verdict, as it is tied to the sacrifice of thousands of men and women who contributed to the country’s freedom.

She added that the KLA will remain forever a part of Kosovo’s history and a source of inspiration for future generations, who will work to build, strengthen and develop the state of Kosovo.

“Today, we must be united and steadfast, defend the historical truth and the dignity of Kosovo, and not allow the sacrifice for freedom to fade or be relativized,” Kusari-Lila declared.

She announced that the battle and commitment for the freedom of the liberators would continue until their full release.
