Kurti: We will contact the opposition after the meeting with von der Leyen
“After we conclude today’s meeting with the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, we will immediately begin communications to organize meetings with the opposition leaders regarding the issue of the president. The aim is that on October 7 we are not left without an Assembly, and that by October 6 at the latest, we have elected a new president,” Kurti declared.
The constitutional deadline for electing a new president expires on October 6. If the country’s new head of state is not elected within this deadline, constitutional procedures provide for new elections to be held.
