Kurti on KOSTT’s 20th anniversary: One of the success stories of state institutions

At the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the System, Transmission and Market Operator – KOSTT, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the creation of this institution in 2006 was a key milestone in the reform and modernization of Kosovo’s energy sector.

According to him, this laid the foundations for an independent, professional and reliable institution, which has essential responsibility for the security of the electricity system, the functioning of the electricity market and the integration of Kosovo’s system into regional and European ones.

Kurti stressed that today, after 20 years, KOSTT can be considered one of the success stories of the state institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.

He further added that in 2020, the entry into force of the new Connection Agreement with ENTSO-E and the start of KOSTT’s operation as an independent regulatory zone, and only two months later also within the Kosovo–Albania Regulatory Block, constituted a historic achievement for the country.

Likewise, Kurti said that, in the wake of these developments, KOSTT’s assumption of operational control over the Vallaç Substation marks an important moment in consolidating the unified functioning of Kosovo’s electricity system.
