Kurti calls for a political agreement on the election of the deputy speakers of parliament

Following the suspension of the constitutive session, the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement and caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti called on political parties to reach an agreement on the election of the deputy speakers of parliament, reports Ekonomia Online.

Kurti said that the election of Albulena Haxhiu as speaker of parliament marked the beginning of the process of constituting the 11th legislature. According to him, the deputy speakers must also be elected to complete this process.

He said that he had been in communication with the leader of the LDK and had also written to the leader of the PDK, with the aim of organizing a meeting and reaching an agreement on the selection of the deputy speakers.

“First, Albulena Haxhiu was elected speaker of the parliament of the 11th legislature, thus launching the constitution of parliament. For this process to be fully and successfully completed, we must also elect the deputy speakers, and this requires an agreement,” Kurti said.

He added that the parties must be positive and constructive so that parliament can be constituted, a government can be formed quickly and the election of the president can then take place, with the aim of avoiding new elections.
