Kurti announces afternoon meeting with KFOR commander over the Ibar Bridge

Kosovo’s caretaker Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has provided details about plans to fully open the Ibar Bridge and place it entirely under the control of the Kosovo Police.

During a press conference, Kurti said that Kosovo’s institutions were continuously coordinating with KFOR on the matter. He announced that this afternoon he would receive KFOR Commander General Ozkan Ulutas at the Prime Minister’s Office.

According to him, contacts with KFOR are held every day by both the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, so that the entire process can be completed calmly, peacefully and without incidents.

Kurti described the continued closure of the Ibar Bridge to traffic as unreasonable, particularly following the construction of new bridges in the area.

He stressed that citizens had moved freely across the new bridges, with no incidents or tensions reported. According to Kurti, greater freedom of movement and the circulation of people and goods bring benefits not only to the economy, but also to peace and security.
