Kurti and Mufti Tërnava discuss institutional cooperation and former KLA leaders

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met in his office with Mufti Naim Tërnava, head of the Islamic Community of Kosovo.

They discussed cooperation between institutions, joint projects, civic solidarity, social and national values, and political developments in the region and beyond.

Kurti said he and Mufti Tërnava also discussed the first-instance judgment by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague against former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi. He described the decision as unjust and inaccurate, and stressed the importance of continued work to secure a successful appeal.

According to the prime minister, Mufti Tërnava had congratulated him the previous day on the election of the new president, Justina Shiroka Pula. Kurti said her election prevented a fourth parliamentary election in less than two years and created an opportunity to restore institutional stability.

The prime minister expressed his gratitude for the Islamic Community of Kosovo’s constructive role and significant contribution to the people of Kosovo.
