Kurti and Abdixhiku Hold Another Meeting on the Election of the President

Albin Kurti, chairman of the Vetëvendosje Movement, and Lumir Abdixhiku, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, have begun a new meeting at the Assembly, focusing on the issue of Kosovo’s president.

The meeting was scheduled to take place at 12:00 as part of efforts to break the political deadlock, reach an agreement on the new president and avoid new elections.

Before entering the meeting, Kurti expressed optimism that real opportunities existed for an agreement, highlighting the goodwill of both sides.

“We have the goodwill, we have real opportunities. Now we are moving forward, as you can see, and we hope to reach an agreement,” Kurti said.

The two leaders have met several times in recent days, with their talks focused mainly on finding a solution for the election of the president and preventing the country from going to new elections.

The latest meeting between Kurti and Abdixhiku was held on Saturday evening. After it ended, the parties gave no concrete details about the content of the discussions. Kurti briefly stated that the news would be made public once there were results.

Abdixhiku had arrived at the Assembly before Kurti but did not make a statement to the media. So far, neither side has confirmed whether agreement has been reached on the name of the president, while today’s meeting represents another attempt to reach a political agreement.
