Konjufca Sends Independence Day Greetings for July 4 and Thanks the US for Its Support for Kosovo

Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, congratulated the United States of America and the American people on July 4, Independence Day, while expressing the Republic of Kosovo’s gratitude for continued American support.

In a Facebook post, Konjufca said that July 4, 1776 represents not only the declaration of US independence, but also the birth of an idea that, according to him, changed the course of modern history by placing freedom, human dignity and the right of citizens to decide on governance at the foundations of the democratic state.

He underlined that the principles of the Declaration of Independence became an inspiration for peoples striving for freedom, self-determination and equality, adding that the historical journey of the people of Kosovo is also linked to these ideals.

Konjufca also mentioned the historic role of American President Woodrow Wilson, assessing that his position at the Paris Peace Conference gave weight to the right of peoples to determine their own future.

According to Konjufca, in the most difficult periods of Kosovo’s history, the United States of America has stood by the people of Kosovo, supporting their right to freedom and statehood.

“As it marks the 250th anniversary of its independence, our people honor not only the legacy of a friendly state, but also the greatness of an idea that has inspired generations: that history moves forward when peoples dare to bind their fate to freedom, justice and human dignity,” Konjufca wrote.

At the end of his message, he congratulated the United States of America and the American people on the occasion of Independence Day.
