Konjufca in New York: We are deepening partnerships and advancing Kosovo’s interests

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Glauk Konjufca announced that during the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, he met with a number of international representatives and Kosovo’s partners.

In a Facebook post, he said that, together with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, he held talks with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, as well as with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Gordan Grlic Radman.

The meeting underscored the importance of cooperation between Kosovo and Croatia, with particular emphasis on security, defense and advancing Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic perspective. According to Konjufca, the partnership built over the years creates room for further deepening relations between the two countries.

Konjufca also met with Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen, to whom he raised concerns about the first-instance judgment by the Specialist Chambers against former KLA leaders Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.

According to the position he expressed, the judgment distorts historical truth and constitutes a serious injustice, and therefore must be corrected by the Court of Appeals.

Another meeting was held with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Konjufca described political relations between Kosovo and the Emirates as excellent, while emphasizing the aim of giving them greater economic substance by increasing investment and concrete cooperation in the coming years.

During his stay in New York, the Kosovo minister also met with Djibouti’s Foreign Minister, Abdoulkader Houssein Omar. He also exchanged views with Rwanda’s Prime Minister, Justin Nsengiyumva, and the country’s Foreign Minister, Olivier Nduhungirehe, with whom he discussed strengthening relations and expanding cooperation with Kosovo.

Konjufca said that from New York, efforts would continue to consolidate Kosovo’s partnerships and advance its interests on the international stage.
