Klosi: Debate Between Gjiknuri and Manja a Routine Work Episode, Not a Sign of Any Rift in the Socialist Party

Socialist Party Secretary General Blendi Klosi commented on Wednesday on Euronews Albania about the verbal clash between MP Damian Gjiknuri and Ulsi Manja, head of the Committee on Legal Affairs. Asked by journalist Mirela Milori whether the incident signals internal tension within the ruling party, Klosi described it as an entirely natural debate.

Referring to the exchange between his two colleagues, he stressed that the Socialist Party is made up of individuals who reflect and exercise judgment, and that such episodes should not be viewed as signs of a crisis. “I do not believe it can be considered tension, but rather a working day, where people are going about their lives at certain moments,” he said, adding that the constant presence of cameras can turn an ordinary discussion into something that appears harsher than it really is.

When Milori asked whether the clash concealed a more fundamental disagreement, Klosi responded based on his personal knowledge of the two protagonists. He noted that Gjiknuri and Manja are good friends and that the disagreement was more likely related to the content of the draft law under discussion or to a procedural issue, although he acknowledged that he did not know the exact details of the debate.

Clarifying the reason for Gjiknuri’s dissatisfaction, the journalist said that the MP disagreed over the issue of commissioners and requested the floor to provide explanations. Returning to this point, Klosi confirmed that the disagreement had focused on formal aspects rather than a different political line. “People who are constantly on camera undoubtedly also have moments when they do not properly carry out what they intend to do,” he concluded, once again downplaying the idea of a serious rift.
