Klodian Allajbeu Responds to Allegations Over New Hemodialysis Tender: I Have No Connection to or Interest in the New Procedure

Businessman Klodian Allajbeu has responded to a statement made today by doctor Ilir Alimehmeti, head of the Democratic Party’s Health Department, who linked his name to the new procedure for providing hemodialysis services in Albania.

In a social media post, Allajbeu denied any involvement by himself or companies affiliated with him in the hemodialysis concession, explaining that for more than eight years he has had no ownership, financial interest, or administrative role in the service.

According to the businessman, the concession was sold years ago to the Swedish company Diaverum, one of Europe’s largest hemodialysis operators.

“During the period when I was involved in it, the hemodialysis concession was a success story in terms of how the service was expanded and modernized in Albania. Investments in infrastructure and equipment, as well as staff training and professional development, made it possible for patients to receive this vital service close to their homes and in line with international standards.

“But there is one fundamental fact that must be clarified. More than eight years ago, the concession was sold and ownership and management were transferred to Diaverum, a Swedish company and Europe’s largest hemodialysis operator,” he wrote. Regarding the new procedure, he clarified that neither he nor companies affiliated with him have any interest in taking part in the competition to provide the hemodialysis service, which is now under OSHIS’s responsibility.

Allajbeu’s response came after allegations made by Dr. Alimehmeti, who earlier raised questions about how the hemodialysis service is expected to be organized after the 10-year concession ends.
