Këlliçi reveals Berisha’s agenda in the US: Meetings with congressmen, the diaspora and participation in the Republican Convention where Trump will speak

From New Jersey, in a live connection with television channel “News24”, Democratic Party deputy chairman Belind Këlliçi presented the political program of DP chairman Sali Berisha during his visit to the United States of America.

Berisha is in the US together with a broad delegation of opposition representatives. According to Këlliçi, the great interest of Albanians in America has led to the meeting with the diaspora being moved to a larger venue, in order to accommodate the high number of participants.

The meeting will be held at the Venetian Palace in New Jersey, and Këlliçi described it as the largest event ever held in the US by an Albanian politician.

During his stay in Texas, the DP leader is expected to hold high-level meetings for two consecutive days with members of the House of Representatives and the American Congress.

An important part of the program is also participation in the Republican Party Convention, which will take place on September 9 and 10 in Dallas. The event will feature President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance as keynote speakers.

Këlliçi described Berisha’s return to the United States, after 14 years and after overcoming legal obstacles, as a development of importance for the Democratic Party and the Albanian opposition as a whole.

He said that Berisha’s arrival was met with extraordinary participation at the airport. According to Këlliçi, the declaration of the opposition leader as persona non grata through a corrupt decision, without documents, facts or evidence, is a precedent that should not happen to any political force.

The agenda for the first days also includes talks with two congressmen from the states of New York and New Jersey, as well as an official appreciation dinner with the Albanian-American community that has supported the opposition’s cause over these 13 years.
