Këlliçi mocks Rama: Greece, North Macedonia and Montenegro are cutting prices to make him look bad, but no one can outdo the €33,000 bottle of wine

In a social media post, Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi responded ironically to Prime Minister Edi Rama after the governments of neighboring countries took measures to lower food and fuel prices.

Këlliçi presented the decisions by Greece, North Macedonia and Montenegro as “new conspiracies” against Rama and his government.

In his ironic remarks, he said these countries were helping their citizens in order to make the Albanian prime minister, who has not taken similar measures, look bad in the eyes of the public.

The Democratic MP first mentioned the agreement reached by the Greek government with business representatives, which provides for a 30 percent reduction in the prices of 1,600 products.

As a result, Greek citizens will pay less, while food suppliers will receive relief from the government.

Këlliçi described this as a “blow” to Rama, claiming that no initiative has been undertaken in Albania to ease the rising cost of living.

His response also referred to North Macedonia, which recently decided to cut the excise duty on fuel. As a result, according to Këlliçi, a liter of diesel there costs 1.5 euros, while in Albania the price exceeds 2.2 euros per liter.

Ironically, he wrote that Skopje was taking these steps to portray Rama as a prime minister who takes no measures to ease the burden on his own citizens.

Këlliçi also referred to Montenegro, where the excise duty on fuel was reduced at the end of August and a liter of diesel costs 1.8 euros. He said that over the five months from March to July, Albanians had paid 80 million euros more for fuel than during the same period last year.

According to the PD MP’s claim, this money ends up with Edi Rama, who then distributes it among his friends and clients based on his own interests.

The post also raises the issue of food prices. Këlliçi claims that prices in Albania are the highest in the region and stand 3 percent above the European Union average.

In conclusion, the Democratic MP continued his irony by saying that the measures taken by neighboring governments prove Rama’s theory about conspiracies aimed at undermining his “great success.”

He also highlighted the debate over the €33,000 bottle of wine, declaring that no prime minister in the region or beyond has managed to drink such wine as Edi Rama has. According to Këlliçi, efforts to conspire against him are futile, since no one can reach this standard.
