Donika Kadaj-Bujupi, former MP and former adviser to ex-President Vjosa Osmani, has assessed that today’s organization in the Assembly cannot be considered a political action. According to her, parliamentary opposition should be based on major causes and not turn into physical clashes.

She explained that in the parliaments of democratic states, actions are undertaken when the opposition opposes decisions affecting territory, borders, constitutional order, or the life and well-being of citizens. For other matters, according to Kadaj-Bujupi, MPs have other forms of action and communication at their disposal.
Referring to the opposition protests in the Assembly in 2015 and 2016, the former MP said that the actions of that time came as a reaction to a series of decisions that violated the integrity of the state and the constitutional order.
Kadaj-Bujupi recalled that for those actions, participants were arrested and served prison sentences several times. Afterwards, judicial proceedings were initiated against them, which are still ongoing, and as a result, some of them were unable to run on electoral lists.
She emphasized that, although that period was characterized by tensions, none of the parliamentary protesters had touched, pushed, or physically attacked any MP from the then ruling coalition.
According to her, tear gas was used to prevent the voting from taking place in the chamber, because the objective of the action was the vote, not the individual. Kadaj-Bujupi added that their cause was also pursued through institutional channels, by being sent to the Constitutional Court, which, according to her, had declared the agreement unconstitutional.
The former MP stressed that the criteria are defined by the idea, the aim, the pursuit of institutional procedures, and the acceptance of responsibility before the law. She concluded that political action is completely contrary to physical confrontation and that what was organized today in the Assembly cannot be assessed by the same standard.
During the day, MPs from PDK and the Alliance asked the Vetëvendosje Movement to call for the continuation of the constitutive session. During this period, several instances of physical pushing were recorded between MPs of the former opposition parties and those of the Vetëvendosje Movement.
