Journalist Osman Stafa threatened with death / Association of Albanian Journalists: State Police must investigate the case urgently

Well-known journalist Osman Stafa has been threatened with death in a message sent to his Facebook account. The threatening message read: “Remember, I will kill you” and “I guarantee you this.”

According to the journalist’s account, the threat is suspected to be related to a video he produced and published during the September 8 protest near Parliament.

In the video, Stafa documented the actions of several plainclothes individuals during the detention and arrest of a protester.

The Association of Albanian Journalists (AGSH) has strongly condemned the threat and expressed deep concern for the journalist’s safety.

AGSH considers the death threat, particularly when linked to the exercise of professional duties and the publication of material of public interest, a serious attack on the journalist’s safety, media freedom and the public’s right to be informed.

The association has called on the State Police and justice authorities to act urgently to identify the person or persons behind the account from which the threat was sent.
