Janevska announces a sustainable system to prevent peer violence

Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska announced that, through the Ministry’s continued efforts, a sustainable system for preventing peer violence will be established. She recalled that the government has so far implemented several projects, legal interventions and changes in schools aimed at preventing and punishing this form of violence.

Janevska said this is the first government to have devoted such significant attention to peer violence. According to her, in addition to projects and legislative changes, measures have been introduced in schools concerning teachers’ schedules and supervision, while penalties have also been предусмотрed for parents whose children repeatedly engage in violence against their peers.

She made the remarks during a ceremony marking the laying of the cornerstone for the construction of a new sports hall at Bratstvo Primary School. Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and Karposh Municipality Mayor Sotir Lukrovski also attended the event.

The minister said that discussions are currently being held at the administrative level with the City of Skopje, while further talks will also be held with the mayor on the activities that need to be implemented.

“These will be ongoing projects, so that they are not merely projects, but instead create a sustainable system that will operate continuously to prevent violence among peers,” Janevska said.
