Italy Urges Kosovo Parties to Engage in Dialogue and Cooperation to Form Institutions

The Italian Embassy in Kosovo has called on all political forces to engage in constructive dialogue and cooperate in forming the country’s institutions.

“It is the responsibility of Kosovo’s elected representatives to find a compromise so that democratic institutions can function effectively and meet citizens’ expectations,” the Embassy said in a response to Radio Free Europe.

Rome’s appeal came after the postponement of the constituent session, which had begun on Thursday morning. The postponement was requested by LVV leader Albin Kurti.

Kurti argued that more time was needed to reach an agreement among the parties on the issue of the president. Meanwhile, the constitutional deadline for constituting the Assembly expires at midnight on August 7.
