Iranian and Cuban delegations walk out of UN hall during Trump’s speech

The Iranian and Cuban delegations left the UN General Assembly hall while Donald Trump was delivering his speech.

The Iranian delegation walked out as the US president began speaking about the military strikes against Iran over the past six months.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are in New York for the annual meeting, but neither was present in the General Assembly hall during Trump’s speech.

At the start of the speech, only lower-level staff and other officials were in the hall. They also left 10 minutes after the US president began speaking.

Cuban representatives also left the General Assembly after Trump described Cuba as a “failed state.”

The delegations did not hear Trump’s repeated threats against Tehran, in which he said he would destroy Iran if the country did not reach an agreement with the US.

They also did not hear the statements about Cuba, with the US saying that it “seeks a fundamental change in the country’s situation” and that it “is an utterly failed state that is collapsing like never before and will fall.”
