Investigation into “Fuel Oil” Case Reopened, Prosecutor’s Office Ordered to Continue Proceedings

The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje has overturned the decision to terminate the investigation into the supply of fuel oil to the Negotino Thermal Power Plant.

The decision to discontinue the proceedings had been challenged by the Power Plants of North Macedonia. The case involves 13 individuals and one legal entity suspected of abusing public procurement procedures and money laundering.

Following a review, the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office identified shortcomings in the expert analyses that served as the basis for halting the investigation. It has therefore instructed the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption to continue the proceedings, obtain additional information and commission new expert analyses.
