International media cover the vote on the “Kurti 4” government

Associated Press reported that Kosovo’s lawmakers voted on Sunday on the composition of the new government led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, following the early elections held in June.

With 62 votes in favor, Kurti’s government secured a narrow majority in the 120-member Assembly. Meanwhile, opposition lawmakers did not attend the session, accusing Kurti of violating post-election procedures.

“Clashes between Kosovo’s main political figures have brought about a deadlock that has lasted for more than 18 months and has not been overcome despite two rounds of early elections,” AP wrote.

Before the vote on the new government, the opposition demanded that the deputy speakers of the Assembly be elected. However, lawmakers failed to complete the process.

According to AP, the political crisis began after the February 2025 elections, when no political force received the number of votes needed to form a government. Following the early elections in December 2025, Kurti managed to form a government, but the parties failed to reach an agreement on the election of the president.
