Illegal organization of gambling, a police officer and two other people arrested (NAMES)

As part of the ongoing operation codenamed “The Last Bet,” and as a result of the investigative and procedural actions carried out, a police employee and two other citizens were caught in the act and arrested.

Lutfi Dervishi, serving as Assistant Specialist for Community Policing, with the city of Fushë-Krujë as his coverage area, is suspected of committing the criminal offenses of “Abuse of office” and “Organizing or carrying out gambling activities contrary to the law,” provided for under Articles 248 and 197 of the Criminal Code.

During a search of his home, 119 rounds of 9mm ammunition were found.

The arrest of citizens Sabah Stafuga and Fatmir Stafuga was carried out for the criminal offenses of “Organizing or carrying out gambling activities contrary to the law” and “Production and sale of narcotics,” provided for under Articles 197 and 283 of the Criminal Code.

During the search conducted at the premises under investigation, the following were seized as material evidence:

4 electronic devices (slot machines) suspected of being used for gambling activities;

2 servers/computer units, suspected of being used for the illegal activity;

1 DVR device;

5 plastic-wrapped bags containing suspected narcotic substances, with a total weight of 2.22 grams;

6 small plastic bags containing suspected narcotic substances, with a total weight of 4.41 grams;

3 mobile phones.

Investigative actions are continuing for the full documentation of the illegal activity, the identification of other possibly involved persons, as well as the identification and documentation of any case of favoritism, support, or inaction by employees of law enforcement structures.

The Police Oversight Agency remains determined to fulfill its legal responsibilities by applying an equal standard before the law and zero tolerance toward any employee who, contrary to duty and public responsibility, becomes involved in, favors, or supports illegal activities.
