Ilire Dauti Blocks Session and Demands Mickoski Answer Her Parliamentary Question

The plenary session devoted to MPs’ questions in the Assembly of North Macedonia was halted twice today. The disruption was caused by Albanian Alliance MP Ilire Dauti, who remained at the lectern and demanded that Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski answer a parliamentary question that she said had gone unanswered for several weeks.

Tensions began after Mickoski responded to MP and SDSM leader Venko Filipçe. Dauti claimed that the prime minister had once again ignored her question, so she occupied the lectern and said she would not leave until she received an answer.

The MP said she would not leave the lectern that day until she received an answer to the question she had asked previously. She demanded that the prime minister come forward and respond, warning that otherwise the session would not continue.

Amid these developments, MP Rijad Shaqiri requested the floor on a procedural matter. Speaker of Parliament Afrim Gashi had difficulty continuing the session because Dauti refused to leave the lectern, while MP and Alliance for Albanians leader Zijadin Sela stood beside her.

Members of the government who were present in the chamber also reacted. Gashi initially decided to suspend the session for 30 minutes, but procedural clashes continued after it resumed. SDSM MP Fatmir Bytyqi accused the prime minister of deliberately avoiding answering parliamentary questions.
