Poli Boriçi, 52, who was arrested over the attempted assassination in Elbasan, told investigators that the attack on Ermir Kërtezi was linked to revenge for his brother.

According to his testimony, 50-year-old Kërtezi had wounded his brother around 15 years ago. Boriçi claimed that the injury had caused serious consequences for him, including paralysis.

This claim is being verified by the prosecution, which is investigating the longstanding conflict between the two families and whether it served as the motive for organizing the attack.

Ermir Kërtezi, who was the target of the assassination attempt, gave a different version. He stated that relations with Boriçi and his family had been normalized for years, while the two families lived near each other and had not had any conflicts during the past 15 years.

Boriçi was arrested following the police’s swift intervention. The incident caused shock in Elbasan, as 50-year-old Kërtezi was targeted, but the assassination attempt caused no casualties.
