Hykmete Bajrami explains why she did not vote for Bekim Sejdiu as president

LDK MP Hykmete Bajrami has given her reasons for not supporting Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy for president of Kosovo.

She explained that the decision was not related to Sejdiu’s professional abilities or his CV. According to Bajrami, it was his institutional profile that failed to convince her he could ensure a balance between the branches of power during the five-year term.

“Personally, I had nothing against the candidate. His institutional profile did not convince me that he could balance the branches of power,” Bajrami said.

The MP stressed that, in the process of electing a president for a five-year period, the candidate’s institutional stance must also be assessed.

Bajrami also criticized Sejdiu’s lack of a public stance regarding the constitutional situation in Kosovo.

“When I vote for a president for five years, when I enable a five-year mandate, I also look at the institutional profile. I have never heard a statement from him; he agrees to be a candidate for president, and half of society is convinced that we are violating the Constitution of Kosovo. We have not seen a statement from him regarding this situation either,” Bajrami said.
