Erblin Ademi, the son of missing surgeon Adem Ademi, has reacted after human remains were discovered during excavations in the Kalludër area of Zubin Potok. Adem Ademi was one of 23 Albanian intellectuals who disappeared during the war in Kosovo.

In a public post, Erblin Ademi said that for 27 years he had chosen to remain silent about the case of his father and the group of intellectuals. However, recent developments have prompted him to speak out.
He described it as a day filled with mixed emotions for himself and his family. He said the pain was immense, as after 27 years they were once again confronting the harsh truth that their father and the other 22 people were killed and disappeared during the last war in Kosovo.
Speaking about his father, Ademi said he was a surgeon and a respected doctor who had dedicated his life to saving people. During the war, he also helped treat soldiers of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
He stressed that the family had spent nearly three decades waiting, in anguish and without answers about Adem Ademi’s fate. Since the post-war period, they had information that the group had been killed in the very area where excavations are now being conducted.
According to Erblin Ademi, the arrest of people suspected of involvement in the crime and the start of the excavations give the impression that the truth is finally close to being uncovered. However, he called for all institutional and forensic procedures to be followed and for the remains to be officially identified with professionalism and dignity.
Ademi described the incident as a massacre and a serious crime. He stressed that for 27 consecutive years, the victims’ families had endured relentless psychological suffering because they did not know where their loved ones had been laid to rest.
He said the family now feels a certain sense of relief, not because the pain has faded, but because the uncertainty may be coming to an end. Knowing where a relative rests and having the opportunity to honor them with dignity is, he said, a fundamental human right that his family has been denied for nearly three decades.
In his statement, Erblin Ademi also called for justice, insisting that every perpetrator and everyone responsible for the crime be held accountable.
He stressed that not only those who committed the crime must face justice, but also those who ordered it, participated in it, concealed the massacre or protected those responsible. Only after they receive the punishment they deserve, he said, can a full step toward justice be considered to have been taken, because without justice there can be no true peace.
Concluding his post, Ademi explained that his voice represents not only his own family, but also all the families that have continued to seek the truth about the fate of their loved ones for 27 years. He expressed hope that one day they, too, will receive the answers they await.
Erblin Ademi concluded by saying that his father would be remembered not only for the way his life was taken, but above all for the life he lived. He remembered him as a man who saved lives, a devoted doctor and a loving father, adding that this legacy is why the family will always remember him with pride.
