Honeymoon ends tragically as British couple dies in helicopter crash on Sifnos

Alexander Cromie and Marie Ebert were the British couple who died when a private helicopter crashed on the Greek island of Sifnos, where they were spending their honeymoon.

The Bell 206 helicopter crashed just a few metres from a landing strip, killing the young couple and the Greek pilot.

According to preliminary information, Cromie and Ebert had hired the helicopter in the village of Markopoulo, near Athens, to travel to the popular Greek island.

Greece’s aviation safety authority told the BBC that it had launched an investigation into the incident, while evidence was being collected to determine the cause of the crash.

Marie Ebert was a senior specialist at the consulting firm Bain & Company, while Alexander Cromie worked for the asset management firm Blackstone.
