Hill on the possibility of closing the Specialist Chambers: I don’t know, the lawyers must determine the next steps

Christopher Hill, the former United States envoy to Kosovo, has responded to the latest developments in the trials of the former KLA leaders at the Specialist Chambers, expressing disappointment over the institution’s latest decision.

Asked whether the court could be dissolved, Hill said the answer should be sought from a specialist in international law.

According to him, the defense should now focus on determining what action to take as the proceedings continue.

“This is a legal question being put to a diplomat, so it would be more appropriate to consult an international law expert. I do not know the answer; I truly do not know. What I can say is that the defense lawyers need to map out their next steps.

It is also necessary to find a solution to this situation, one that must be determined by justice and be consistent with the facts.

I hope the process moves in a positive direction. Like many other people, I, too, am deeply disappointed by the decision the Specialist Chambers has made in recent years,” Hill said.
