Haxhiu: Kurti Expected to Meet with LDK Again Over Presidential Issue

The acting president, Albulena Haxhiu, has announced that acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti will hold another meeting with the LDK in the coming days.

According to Haxhiu, political parties should sit down and discuss the election of the president. She has proposed that the talks begin with concrete names for a consensus candidate who is not a member of any political party.

Haxhiu said that the LDK has a position on the presidency and that the parties should now discuss a figure who could receive joint support. She added that Kurti has stated that the president should not come from the ranks of VV, as there had previously been discussions that VV was insisting on its own candidate.

She stressed that LVV has also expressed support for a consensus president, and said she hoped that meetings between the parties would continue and take place as soon as possible.

“I hope that the other political parties will also join these meetings,” Haxhiu declared to the media, adding that, according to Kurti’s announcement, the meeting with the LDK would be held very soon.
