“We are waiting for the session to be convened. We have conveyed our request to Haxhiu to schedule it. Our aim is for the law to be adopted in the second reading, so I call on MPs to be present in the Assembly and vote for it. I also ask the government not to take actions that increase tensions in this situation,” Hamza declared.
According to him, developments concerning the president happen to coincide with the deadline for electing the head of state. Hamza said it would be useful to reach an agreement to avoid elections, but stressed that this issue is separate from the law.
“The president’s case is a coincidence, just as it is a coincidence that today marks the end of the deadline for electing him. It would be good to reach an agreement so that we do not go to elections. This is a separate issue. We have no reason to meet with anyone before the law is adopted in the second reading,” he added.
Hamza announced that the request for the session had been signed by 22 PDK MPs and seven from the Alliance. A total of 40 signatures are required to convene an extraordinary session.
