Hafir Hoxha seeks clarification on Lushtaku’s call: What weapons will be used and who will command the citizens?

Former military serviceman Hafir Hoxha has reacted to a statement by PDK lawmaker Mërgim Lushtaku, who called for Kosovo’s Assembly to approve the arming of every citizen if the four former KLA leaders are convicted in The Hague.

According to Hoxha, such a position cannot be dismissed as an insignificant statement, especially when it comes from a lawmaker who, as he puts it, has had former KLA commanders in his office.

He suggested that Lushtaku may have information or specific reasons that prompted him to make the call. However, Hoxha said he hoped such a scenario would not materialize and that the KLA members, whom he considers innocent, would be released.

“When a lawmaker who has had former KLA commanders in his office makes such a call, then I do not regard it as unserious! He surely has a reason; he knows something,” Hoxha wrote.

While raising the possibility that the decision in The Hague may not be the one hoped for, the former serviceman asked about the consequences such a situation would have and the motive behind the call for citizens to be armed.

“We hope it does not happen and that the innocent KLA members are released! But it seems there is also a chance they could be convicted,” he wrote.

Hoxha sought more specific information about what arming citizens would entail, raising questions about the model and caliber of the weapons, the amount of ammunition, the tasks that would be assigned to citizens, and how they would be mobilized or commanded.

“I need to know, brother, what model and what caliber of weapon to buy! How much ammunition, what task will I have, who will mobilize me and command me!” he said.

According to him, when a public call is made to arm citizens, they should first be informed about the reason for it, the circumstances in which the weapons would be used, and how a possible mobilization would be organized.

“When someone asks me to arm myself, it would not hurt to explain a little about how and why! At least a little earlier, so I know whether it is possible, you understand?” the former serviceman concluded his reaction.
