Gunfire during inspection of a suspected cannabis plot in Pukë, reinforcements requested

Police have requested additional support after reports of gunfire in the “Hamalla e Dedës” area, near the village of Qafë T’Mugu, in Qelëz, Pukë.

According to preliminary information, a group of officers was monitoring a plot suspected of being used for cannabis cultivation, located in remote mountainous terrain. It is suspected that the individuals who may be involved in the cultivation of narcotic plants spotted the police officers, after which gunshots were heard.

Following the situation, the forces on the ground requested reinforcements. Additional officers have been dispatched to the area, while a group from the Rapid Intervention Forces (FNSH) in Shkodra has also been mobilized for support.

So far, there has been no official notification of anyone being injured or arrested in connection with the incident. The checks and police operation are continuing in the mountainous terrain.

In the same area, three days ago, police arrested a citizen suspected of cultivating narcotic plants and illegal possession of a firearm.

The incident remains ongoing, while further information is expected from police regarding the circumstances of the gunfire and the individuals who may have opened fire.
