In Greece, 47 additional cases of West Nile virus and four deaths were confirmed during the past week, from 12 to 19/8, according to data from the weekly report of the Hellenic Public Health Organization.

The new infections were recorded in the municipalities of Dionysos, Kallithea and Petroupoli, in Attica, as well as in the Municipality of Alexandria, Imathia, the report states.
Since the beginning of 2026 and through 19/8, the overall total has reached 157 cases and 13 deaths.
Currently, 42 patients are receiving hospital treatment, while 23 of them are in intensive care units.
