Government allocates 3 million euros for the Green Card, Gërvalla: A recognition by the state for the diaspora

Acting Justice Minister Donika Gërvalla announced that the Government of Kosovo has approved 3 million euros to cover Green Card expenses for compatriots during the summer.

According to the announcement, starting in July, emigrants entering Kosovo by vehicle will no longer have to pay this additional cost, as it will be covered by the state under measure 4.5 of the Economic Revival Package, which is intended to support the diaspora.

In her response, Gërvalla highlighted the historic weight the diaspora has carried in Kosovo’s state-building processes, describing it as a permanent pillar of the country’s development.

“3 million euros to cover the Green Card for the diaspora during the summer season. The Government approved 3 million euros to cover the Green Card for the diaspora during the summer season. From July onward, emigrants entering Kosovo by car will not face this additional cost, as it will be covered by the state as part of the implementation of measure 4.5, support for the diaspora from the Economic Revival Package,” the acting minister wrote.

She further stressed that the diaspora has been inseparable from every phase of Kosovo’s state-building, from the sacrifice for freedom, to the declaration of independence, as well as in strengthening institutions and in the country’s economic and social development.

“This measure is an expression of the state’s extraordinary respect for this historic and ongoing role of yours. It is a way to make your journey home easier and to say clearly: Kosovo always awaits you as an inseparable part of itself. Compatriots, welcome to your home. Kosovo will always keep you warmly in its heart,” Gërvalla wrote.
