Gazment Bardhi calls for urgent investigation into Gent Progni’s report of attempted knife attack

The chairman of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has issued a strong reaction after activist Gent Progni made public the claim that someone tried to stab him during a protest.

Bardhi described the case as deeply concerning and called on the authorities for immediate intervention.

According to him, any suspicion of endangering the lives of individuals exercising their constitutional right to assembly must be handled by law enforcement agencies with competence, impartiality, and in real time.

He pointed out that creating an intimidating environment or acts of violence against activists and demonstrators is completely unacceptable and runs counter to the foundations of a democratic society.

Bardhi asked the prosecution and police structures to prioritize and handle quickly the case reported by Progni, to clarify in detail how the incident occurred, and to bring to justice anyone found to be involved in this matter.

In his statement, Bardhi reiterated that the protection of citizens and the guarantee of the right to peaceful assembly must be considered inviolable.
