Gashi rejected claims that an attempt was being made to smuggle the law through, stressing that it had been worked on for two years with the involvement of experts. According to him, the proposal was introduced through the regular procedure and had been subject to public debate.
He said he aims to create the necessary space for discussions among parliamentary groups so that such an important law can be adopted, as its approval has been awaited for 22 years.
According to the Parliament speaker, all political mechanisms should be used to ensure that this law is recognized as necessary at this moment. Gashi emphasized that no one has claimed the text is perfect and that the shortcomings mentioned so far are only assumptions. He reiterated his position that the country must have a law on fair and adequate representation.
