Gashi: Abdixhiku Initially Sought an Agreement with LVV, but Later Called It Impossible

Arben Gashi, a deputy of the Democratic League of Kosovo, said that the first proposal by the party’s chairman, Lumir Abdixhiku, had been to form a coalition with the Vetëvendosje Movement.

According to Gashi, the LDK Assembly had given Abdixhiku a mandate to conduct negotiations and reach a coalition agreement with LVV.

However, after several meetings had taken place, Abdixhiku informed members of the LDK Parliamentary Group that a coalition or any form of cooperation with LVV could not be achieved.

“This situation needs to be clarified more fully. Initially, the chairman of the LDK had sought to build a coalition with LVV, while the LDK Assembly had authorized him to do so. After several meetings, he appeared before the Parliamentary Group and said that forming a coalition or any form of cooperation was impossible,” Gashi said.

He stressed that the expiry of the constitutional and legal deadlines had plunged Kosovo into a sensitive period marked by constitutional uncertainty.

Gashi also said that it had been broadly assessed during the meetings that recent developments might be in violation of the Constitution, while, according to him, there were grounds for referring the matter to the Constitutional Court for interpretation.
