Free Uniforms for First-Year High School Students in Skopje

Orce Gjorgjievski, the mayor of Skopje, announced that starting from this academic year, every high school student beginning their first year will receive a free uniform.

According to him, this platform aims to mitigate social contrasts among students, reduce the economic pressure families experience, and build a more egalitarian and safer school environment.

“School should transform into an arena where young people compete with knowledge, engagement, and results, not with expensive brand-name clothing or whose family possesses more wealth. Economic inequalities often degenerate into division, unequal treatment, and sometimes even harassment. For this reason, we are applying this policy, through which we harmonize conditions, increase security, and make the environment more pleasant for everyone. For the first time, every student enrolling in the first year of high school will receive the school suit at no cost,” declared Gjorgjievski.

The mayor added that this initiative will minimize social differences, reduce the monetary stress on families, and give students the opportunity to focus on learning, their individual growth, and planning their future.
