Four Bloody Days on the Country’s Roads, Several Killed and Dozens Injured in Accidents

The beginning of August has brought an alarming toll on the country’s roads, with several fatalities and a significant number of people injured in traffic accidents over the course of four days.

Reports of the incidents show that many of those injured were taken to regional hospitals for medical treatment, while the most serious cases were transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana.

Among the victims was Aleks Uka, who died at the Trauma Hospital. He had suffered serious injuries in an accident in the village of Porav, along the Fushë Arrëz–Bajram Curri road.

Another fatal incident occurred during the evening on the Lezhë–Milot road, where a vehicle struck and killed a 50-year-old man.

Antonio Mateli, 20, who was driving a van, was also killed in Ksamil. Due to the injuries he sustained in the accident, the young man died while being transported to the hospital.

In addition to the fatal incidents, accidents resulting in multiple injuries were recorded in various areas. In Murras, on the Elbasan–Peqin road, a collision involving three vehicles left five people injured.

Four other people were injured near the village of Vajkan, on the Fier–Lushnjë road. The two vehicles involved in the collision left the road and ended up in a roadside ditch, while the injured were taken to Fier Regional Hospital.

At the entrance to Stan-Karbunarë, along the Lushnjë–Berat road, a 28-year-old woman was injured after the vehicle in which she was traveling struck the bridge barriers and overturned.

Collisions between vehicles were also reported on the Peqin–Elbasan road and the Fier–Patos road. As a result, several people were injured and received medical treatment.

The incidents recorded during the first four days of August highlight a grave situation on the country’s roads, with several lives lost and dozens of people injured.
