Bulgaria’s ambassador to the country, Zheljazko Radukov, was summoned today to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade over developments surrounding the case of Iva Mihajlova.

During the meeting, ministry representatives told the ambassador that her reception in Sofia, particularly reports of a high-level reception, was seen as a provocation that undermines efforts to strengthen trust and build good neighborly relations.
According to the Foreign Ministry’s statement, such an action constitutes direct interference in the country’s legal system. It also sends a wrong and serious message regarding respect for judicial procedures and the principle of equality before the law.
The ministry said international institutions, including the European Union and the Council of Europe, would also be notified of the matter. /Telegrafi/
