Food and Veterinary Agency removes illegal stalls near Bit Pazar and destroys 150 kg of expired meat in Gostivar

The Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) carried out an operation today in the area near Bit Pazar, where illegal fruit and vegetable stalls were removed and around 500 kilograms of products were seized. Meanwhile, 150 kilograms of expired meat were destroyed in Gostivar.

The operation took place in the early morning hours along Krste Petkov-Misirkov Boulevard, in the section stretching from the Mavrovasja shopping center to Bit Pazar. AUV inspectors, municipal inspectors from the City of Skopje, the State Market Inspectorate and members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs took part in the operation.

During the inspection, all illegal sales points were removed, mainly those selling fruit and vegetables. In addition to seizing around 500 kilograms of food, primarily agricultural products, the authorities also removed equipment that had been illegally placed on pedestrian and bicycle paths. In cooperation with municipal inspectors, the appropriate misdemeanor measures will be taken against the violators.

Another intervention was carried out yesterday in cooperation with the Gostivar Department of Internal Affairs. Official AUV veterinarians seized and safely destroyed 150 kilograms of expired meat at a private property in the village of Čajle. The meat had no declaration and was of unknown origin. The products were sent for destruction at the Rusino landfill, AUV reported.
