Flames engulf olive grove near the 400 kV substation in Elbasan

A large fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon in an olive grove located around 100 meters from the 400 kV Elbasan–Mjekës–Cerrujë–Gramsh substation.

The fire engulfed the olive-planted area, while smoke spread across a wide part of the zone. However, despite its proximity to the substation, the energy infrastructure was not endangered.

Firefighters and the responsible authorities intervened at the scene and, following a difficult operation, managed to bring the flames under control. The fire was contained and completely extinguished, preventing it from spreading to other areas.

The causes of the fire are not yet known. An investigation is expected to begin into the incident, which will also determine the origin of the flames.
